AlUla is a region in the North West Region of Saudi Arabia. The mission of the Royal Commission of AlUla (RCU) is to market AlUla as a world-class tourist destination. For this redesign, I did a site UX audit, considered international users, and updated the look and feel to reflect the new brand and convey to visitors that AlUla is a luxury destination, and once in a lifetime destination to visit.
Project challenge: marketing a destination that most people around the world do not recognize as a travel destination as its borders had not yet been open to the public.
MY ROLE: Responsible for redesign, discovery and ideation, interaction design, map illustration, prototypes and user flows
There was very little content to work with during the planning and wireframing stage, as many activities had not yet launched and/or certain places were not yet open to the public. There was a need for flexible components that could eventually handle a plethora of activities and information for travelers. I was tasked with designing components around content we didn't have, while still keeping consistency through each design.
UI STYLE GUIDE
The UI style guide is used as a design and development tool to keep cohesion throughout the site. Elements and interactions are added as components are built.
I created a component and field outline for our developers and content team.
